Official: Parliament can pass constitution changes till mid-Aug
MOSCOW, Jan 16 (PRIME) -- The Russian parliament can adopt amendments to the constitution until the end of the spring session in mid-August, Speaker of the Federation Council, the supreme chamber, Valentina Matviyenko, told reporters on Thursday.
“We plan to complete the work until the end of the spring session,” Matviyenko said.
President Vladimir Putin told the Federal Assembly, both chambers of parliament, on Wednesday that powers of Russian parliament should be widened, including the right to appoint the government and the prime minister.
